Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026: the key novelties and their effect on market value

The Oyster centenary at Rolex, the Monarch at Tudor, 50 years of the Nautilus at Patek Philippe, the return of the Roadster at Cartier: what to remember from the April 2026 show, and what these launches change for the references they replace.

Watches and Wonders has become the event where the watchmaking year is decided: it is where Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier or Tudor unveil their novelties, and where, often without announcement, references disappear from the catalogue. For anyone buying or selling on the secondary market, the April show counts as much as the auctions: it sets, for twelve months, what is "current" and what becomes a discontinued reference.

The 2026 edition in brief

The 2026 edition took place from 14 to 20 April at Palexpo, Geneva, with 66 exhibiting houses according to reports published during the show. As in previous years, the first days were reserved for professionals (retailers, press), the last open to the public with a ticket. Two themes dominated: anniversaries, with three major centenaries and fiftieth anniversaries, and the return of abandoned collections.

Rolex: the Oyster centenary

Rolex built its presentation around the hundred years of the Oyster case, patented in 1926. The most visible novelties are anniversary Oyster Perpetual models: a two-tone 41 mm version (reference 134303) with a smooth yellow gold bezel, and a 36 mm with a multicoloured dial inspired by the Jubilee pattern. 28 and 34 mm versions in solid gold receive natural stone indices, a first for the brand according to the specialist press.

Two other announcements are of direct interest to the secondary market:

  • The return of the Yacht-Master II under new references (126680 in Oystersteel, 126688 in yellow gold), with a revised regatta countdown function. The old 44 mm generation, produced since 2007, leaves the catalogue.
  • A [Daytona](/montres/rolex/daytona) in Rolesium, the combination of steel and platinum hitherto reserved for other families, with a white dial.

On the withdrawal side, the most talked-about is the steel GMT-Master II "Pepsi" (126710BLRO), noted by the reference's disappearance from the brand's website. We come back to it in detail in our article on Rolex 2026 novelties.

Tudor: the Monarch for the centenary

Tudor was celebrating its hundredth anniversary. The flagship novelty is the Monarch (reference 2639W1A0U), a 39 mm steel case, "California"-style dial, in-house calibre MT5662-2U certified by the COSC and METAS. The brand also extended its existing collections: new Black Bay models, including a blue Black Bay 54, variations of the Black Bay 58 and of the Royal. Announced retail prices vary by market; check the brand's website for your country's price.

Patek Philippe: fifty years of the Nautilus

Patek Philippe presented around twenty novelties, including several Nautilus anniversary pieces:

  • the 5610/1P-001, in platinum, which returns to the 38 mm diameter of the 1980s with an hours-minutes display and the ultra-thin micro-rotor calibre 240 engraved "50 1976–2026";
  • the 5810/1G-001 (on a bracelet, announced at 2,000 pieces) and 5810G-001 (1,000 pieces), in white gold, 41 mm, hours-minutes;
  • a Nautilus desk clock, the 958G-001, limited to 100 pieces.

Beyond the Nautilus, the house showed a Calatrava with sweeping centre seconds, complications (minute repeater, annual calendar with moon phases) and a first perpetual calendar in the Cubitus line.

Cartier: the return of the Roadster

The Roadster, launched in 2002 and withdrawn in 2012, returns in two sizes, in steel, gold or two-tone, with in-house automatic movements. Reports differ on the exact number of references; it is best to rely on the official catalogue. Cartier also continued its work on shapes (Tortue, Baignoire, Crash) and extended the Santos-Dumont. What the show changes for market value

A launch acts on the secondary market through three mechanisms, which need to be distinguished before drawing conclusions.

  1. The withdrawal of a highly sought-after reference. When a watch already selling at a premium over retail disappears from the catalogue, new supply dries up. The precedent often cited is the Submariner "Hulk" (116610LV), discontinued in 2020, whose value settled durably above that of regular Submariners. Part of the movement is anticipated, however: rumours circulate before the show, and prices often move before the announcement.
  2. Replacement by a similar version. When the new generation closely resembles the old one, the effect is small; the old one may even depreciate slightly if the new one fixes a flaw. For the Yacht-Master II, the difference in function between the two generations will be the buyers' argument, in one direction or the other.
  3. The return of an old name. The reissue of a collection (Roadster, Yacht-Master II) revives interest in original examples, but the effect is rarely lasting on models produced in large numbers.

Finally, be cautious with anniversary editions: a limited edition of 1,000 or 2,000 pieces is not rare in market terms, especially when demand is concentrated in the first year. You generally have to wait for pre-owned supply to form to know the true market value.

Practical information

  • Next edition: from 5 to 11 April 2027 at Palexpo, Geneva (trade days Monday to Thursday, public weekend Friday to Sunday, according to the June 2026 announcement).
  • Tickets and programme: watchesandwonders.com
  • Preparing your visit: novelties are published online on opening day; identify in advance the stands and references that interest you.

In short

Watches and Wonders 2026 was above all a show of anniversaries: Oyster, Tudor, Nautilus. For the secondary market, the most useful information is not on the stands but in what is absent from them, the discontinued references. If you own one of them, or are unsure whether to sell before or after an announcement, calculate your watch's market value: the reference, year and condition are enough to get a range based on our price surveys.
